Martina Roth was born in Cologne and studied at the Musikhochschulen in Freiburg and Cologne. In 1986 she received her Soloist’s Diploma in flute from the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart. After playing for six years in the Orchester der Städtischen Bühnen in Freiburg, she now devotes her time predominantly to chamber music and the interpretation of contemporary works. She has been a member of Ensemble SurPlus since 1992, Ensemble Aventure since 1993. She has performed widely in international festivals for contemporary music, both as a soloist and in various instrumental combinations, and has made numerous CD recordings, two of which were awarded the German Recording Prize (Deutscher Schallplattenpreis). Martina Roth lives in Freiburg.
